Therapy of idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss: A review of the literature

Abstract

The literature on therapy of Idiopathic Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (ISSHL) is reviewed. Clinical trials are judged on comparativeness, internal and external validity. It is concluded that steroids are the only treatment available with a significant beneficial effect on ISSHL. Recommendations are made with regard to a well designed clinical trial on the treatment of ISSHL.
