Abstract
The skin manifestations of patients with lupus erythematosus can be divided in acute, subacute, and chronic forms. One of the main aspects of patient management is prevention (i.e advice on photoprotection). This may increase the patient's risk for developing vitamin D deficiency and Vitamin D serum concentration should be monitored. Drugs that may induce lupus erythematosus should be stopped or switched. Antimalarials may prevent disease flares, are therefore are used as first-line therapy. Glucocorticosteroids and topical immune response modifiers are important topical therapeutic considerations.
