Abstract

Although radioembolization is a minimally invasive and liver-directed treatment, like every other treatment, it's not without side effects, on which we will focus in this chapter. In analyzing side effects that follow radioembolization, a distinct subdivision can be made between three categories: angiography related, general embolization related and radioembolization specific toxicities. The latter, radioembolization specific toxicities, will be discussed in greater detail, dividing complications related to hepatotoxicity or extrahepatic tissue irradiation, including their pathophysiology, management and prevention.
