Abstract

This chapter describes the scope of person centred medicine (PCM) in the management of various endocrine syndromes. It highlights the peculiarities of pituitary diseases, bone and mineral metabolism disorders, adrenal and gonadal syndromes including disorders of sexual differentiation and gender identify, thyroid dysfunction, obesity and diabetes. The authors share examples and evidence related to PCM in this discipline of medicine, and reinforce the need for person centered endocrinology. They call for evolution in clinicians' attitude and approach towards endocrinology, and hope that 'state of the art' endocrinology integrates PCM as an integral philosophy.
