Abstract
Objective: To describe the clinical and surgical results secondary to head trauma after a period of conservative treatment Study design: Case report. Methods: Review of a patiënt chart, imaging studies, operative report, and audiologic findings. Results: A patiënt presented with signs and symptoms of hearing loss, tinnitus, Tullio Phenomenon and other vestibular symptoms after blunt head trauma during work. CT-scan showed a fracture through the round window. After a period of conservative treatment patiënt underwent an exploratory tympanotomy to patch the oval and round window with temporal fascia and connective tissue. Hearing levels remained roughly the same and vestibular symptoms totally disappeared. Conclusion: We presented a patiënt with vestibular and audiologic symptoms after blast head trauma. Surgery yielded satisfactory results, as reported elsewhere in literature, after a period of conservative treatment without alleviation of symptoms.
