Abstract

A three-dimensional mathematical model of the cochlea is constructed. The basilar membrane is represented by a linear visco-elastic plate of variable width and thickness. It is shown that the point-impedance characterization of the basilar membrane is the analoque in one- and two-dimensional models of this visco-elastic plate representation.
