Abstract

Neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT) (also referred to as Bobath-therapy), is widely used in the care of stroke patients. - In this study the effects of NDT on the functional status, shoulder pain, depression and Quality of Life of 324 patients were measured. - Our findings did not show any beneficial effects of the NDT-therapy. - The use of the NDT-therapy in the care of stroke patients is not effective and should be terminated. Due to the lack of effects found in this study one may seriously question the wide application of the NDT in the care of stroke patients.
