Research output: ThesisDoctoral thesis 1 (Research UU / Graduation UU)

Abstract

Our research focused on factors which may affect the vulnerability for the development of hypoxic-ischemic (HI) brain injury in preterm and full-term infants. The aim was to improve our understanding of underlying mechanisms of injuries. We investigated factors concerning placental, clinical, and biochemical factors, and genetic susceptibility. In this thesis we have studied risk factors associated with neonatal brain injury in preterm and full-term infants. These risk factors include clinical factors, prothrombotic genetic factors, and placental characteristics.
