Abstract

We describe a newborn with a congenital, lingual cyst. A heterotopic cyst in the tongue can cause respiratory and feeding problems. Hetero topic cysts arise probably by development impairment during embryo-genesis at the foregut. Transoral excision is the treatment of choice. Cyst aspiration may be useful in facilitating intubation or acute respiratory insufficiency.
