Abstract

With the introduction of MR guided radiotherapy, dosimetry has to be adapted to the presence of the magnetic field.

Charged particle trajectories become curved in a magnetic field and this affects both dose measurements and dose distributions in an MRI-linac. This chapter begins with a discussion of the Lorentz force and its effect on radiotherapy. The important issues for measurements and equipment in magnetic fields are described, along with the current status of reference dosimetry in MRI-linacs. The chapter concludes by mentioning audit services and potential future directions for dosimetry research.
