Abstract
Hematological malignancies, including Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), and lymphoma, constitute the most common pediatric cancers. Although progress has been made in this field, recent research highlights the significance of deregulated metabolism in malignant cells, exemplified by the Warburg effect—a characteristic feature of cancer and a promising target for therapeutic intervention. Building on the focus of metabolism, this thesis focused on characterizing cellular bioenergetics in healthy and cancer cell models, including the identification of the Warburg effect in pediatric hematological malignancies and how in vitro dietary restriction mimicking regulates responses to chemotherapy in both healthy and malignant cell lines.
