Abstract

In this thesis we have studied the pharmacokinetics, safety and analgesic properties of intrathecal administration of methylprednisolone acetate (MPA) suspension in neuropathic pain states, both in patients and preclinical models. In conclusion, intrathecal MPA does not decrease pain or pain-like behavior in severe neuropathic pain states in patients or rats, respectively, and is a potentially harmful treatment that should not be offered to patients.
