Abstract
Over the last decade, There has been important progress in psychiatric genetic epidemiology and molecular. However, these knowledge threatens to be offset by the development of a rather deterministic view of genes at the expense of the role of the environment in the causation are the result of complex interactions between constitutional vulnerability (nature) and environmental factors (nurture). In this article, role of genotype- environment interactions and genotype-environment correlations are reviewed in relation to psychiatric disorders. It is necessary that clinicians, social epidemiologists and genetists collaborate closely together in order to unravel the complicated aetiological pathways of psychiatric diseases.
