Abstract

New techniques for hysteroscopic visualization of the uterine cavity have significantly increased the accuracy of diagnosing intrauterine disorders and opened up completely new possibilities for transcervical endoscopic surgery. Major breakthroughs in this field have been the introduction of the use of the resectoscope and the development of instrumentation and methods for continuous flow hysteroscopy. These endosurgical techniques will cause a substantial change in modern management of uterine causes of bleeding anomalies and infertility. An overview of the most recent instrumentation for transcervical hysteroscopic endosurgery and its application is presented.
