Abstract

The behavior of human Bone Marrow derived Stromal Cells (BMSC) seeded on a 3D biodegradable scaffold and the influence of two growth factors, known for their role in ligament heating was investigated. BMSC's are known for their role in ligament healing, on final construct quality in terms of matrix production and cell differentiation. It was shown that the ligament tissue engineering model posesses stimulatory effects on proliferation and matrix production. The results demonstrate that the used model helps sto gain insight in the complex mechanisms of ligament formation and has the potential to provide a basis for clinical applications.
