Abstract

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) have a large variety of clinical manifestations with multiple medical professionals involved. The focus of clinical endpoint trials has often been restricted to limited vascular territories, ignoring many other common manifestations of CVD. In addition, the lack of sex and gender- awareness among healthcare professionals has contributed to the underestimation of CVD risk in especially younger women. We plead for a more multidisciplinary and life-course approach to CVD risk assessment.
