Abstract

Functional MRI in addition to anatomical MRI has an increasing role in radiotherapy for target delineation, response prediction and assessement, diagnosis of recurrences and assessment of toxicity in organs at risk. Four different techniques are described in this chapter: diffusion-weighted MRI, dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI, blood-oxygen-level-dependent (BOLD) fMRI of the brain, and MR spectroscopy. Biophysics background, acquisition techniques and post-processing of the acquired data are highlighted.
