Abstract

The ImmunoCAP Immuno-Solid phase Allergen Chip (ISAC) is an advanced diagnostic tool that provides the physician with information on sensitization patterns and cross reactivity. Limitations and high costs prevent the ISAC to replace specific IgE against whole extract in daily practice. Data from our center show that sensitization to birch pollen related food components is seen most commonly. Future research could allow component resolved diagnostics to help physicians in identifying patients at risk for severe allergic reactions.© 2014 De Nederlandse Vereniging voor Dermatologie en Venereologie.
