Abstract

In this chapter, the management of a patient who has been treated with deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the globus pallidus internus (GPi) but did not show sufficient effect will be discussed. Through the chronological presentation of the case, readers read about the pre- and postoperative aspects in the management of dystonia patients undergoing DBS surgery and how to evaluate outcome. After reading the chapter and answering the questions, the reader knows about (super) responders and nonresponders and to make a comprehensive plan to evaluate the effect of treatment and how to troubleshoot.
