Abstract
A number of practical examples is used to illustrate the terminology that can be encountered in the systematic reviews of the Cochrane Library. The terms odds ratio, Mantel-Haenszel odds ratio, confidence interval, funnel plot, numbers needed to treat, numbers needed to harm, likelihood ratio for a positive test result, pre-test prob ability and post-test prob ability are reviewed.
