Abstract
This book deals with physical therapy for children with cerebral palsy from a functional approach. These children have motor impairments resulting from lesions of the brain arising in the early stages of development. Marjolein Ketelaar describes aspects relating to the assessment of functional motor abilities of children with cerebral palsy as well as recent insights in therapeutic principles. Moreover, she focuses attention to parental involvement in intervention programs. She also studied the effects of a functional therapy program for children with cerebral palsy. In the last chapter the results of that program are discussed, focusing on the implications for research and practice.
