Abstract
BCI paradigms are categorized by underlying neural mechanisms and applications. The chapter surveys sensorimotor rhythms (SMR), event-related potentials (P300, SSVEP, SCP), passive and affective BCIs, speech decoding and implanted interfaces, as well as other emerging paradigms. Each paradigm’s principles, advantages, and use cases are discussed in relation to user needs and system design.
