Abstract
This chapter analyses the impact of Franco Basaglia's ideas in the Netherlands, where it inspired the foundation of so-called grassroots antipsychiatric 'Runaway Shelters' and the general move towards deinstitutionalization at the time, that took an especially radical turn in Amsterdam.
