Biography

 

Rolf Urbanus is an associate professor of thrombosis and hemostasis at the Van Creveldkliniek and head of the minidonor dienst, a blood donation facility for research purposes at UMC Utrecht. He received his doctorate in medicine at Utrecht University. Dr. Urbanus has authored or coauthored more than 100 scientific publications on thrombosis and inherited bleeding disorders and is best known for his work on the auto-immune thrombotic disorder antiphospholipid syndrome. Dr. Urbanus is part of the steering committee of the Thrombocytopathy in the Netherlands (TiN) study, a nationwide study on inherited platelet disorders. He is currently a member of the editorial board of Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis, a reviewer for numerous journals and serves in the scientific advisory board of the Netherlands Thrombosis Foundation.
