    Biography

    Myrthe Willemsen is a PhD candidate in Infectious Disease Modeling at the University Medical Center Utrecht in the Netherlands. Under supervision of Dr. G. Rozhnova and Prof. M. Kretzschmar she employs mathematical models to comprehend pathogen evolution and address key questions about interventions for respiratory and sexually transmitted diseases.

    Myrthe holds a BSc in Life Science and Technology from the Technical University of Delft and Leiden University (GPA: summa cum laude), followed by a MSc in Bioinformatics from the Free University of Berlin (GPA: 1.0/1.0). She previously conducted various research projects at Oxford University, the European Bioinformatics Institute, the Max Planck Institute, and the ETH Zürich on topics ranging from transcriptomics to phylogenetics.
