Biography
Martijn Dietze obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Astronomy from Utrecht University, which included an exchange year at the Australian National University and a thesis project at DESY in Hamburg. He continued with a Master’s degree in Particle Physics at the University of Amsterdam, attended the CERN summer school in Geneva, and wrote his thesis on proton radiography at Nikhef.
In 2020, he defended his PhD thesis, “Technical Development of Interventional Nuclear Imaging,” under the supervision of Prof. Hugo de Jong, Prof. Max Viergever, and Prof. Marnix Lam with nine first-author pulications. His research focused on algorithm development, quantitative analysis and technical system design for use in image-guided surgery.
He continued as a Postdoctoral Researcher and, later, Assistant Professor in the Medical Physics group at the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. In these roles, he contributed to the clinical implementation of new imaging methods, supervised PhD candidates, and led collaborative projects with academic and industrial partners. His work is shaped by a practical mindset, analytical approach, and an interest in guiding technology from prototype to application.
