Biography

Dr. Monica Gianoli is a cardiothoracic surgeon at UMC Utrecht, specializing in coronary revascularization and advanced heart failure surgical therapies. Her extensive experience in beating heart coronary surgery has established her as the leading surgeon for the off-pump revascularization program at UMCU. Since 2018, she has spearheaded the off-pump, sternal-sparing coronary artery bypass operation program utilizing the da Vinci Xi robotic system.Dr. Gianoli's current research focuses on the safety and feasibility of implementing advanced technologies in coronary revascularization, particularly closed-chest, multivessel, totally arterial procedures using robotic and connector device technology. Her work encompasses minimally invasive techniques and cutting-edge surgical approaches. 

Recently, Dr. Gianoli has expanded her influence in the field of cardiothoracic surgery through several significant appointments. She became a member of the Cardiothoracic EACTS endorsed Robotic taskforce, demonstrating her expertise in robotic surgical techniques. Additionally, she was appointed as a Board member of the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery (ISMICS), serving as the European director at large. This role highlights her international recognition in minimally invasive cardiac procedures. Furthermore, Dr. Gianoli joined the medical advisory board of Octovascular, contributing her clinical insights to this innovative medical technology company.
