During my PhD, I studied the potential of the use of nationwide registers for cardiovascular disease (CVD) research on incidence and prognosis of CVD in terms of morbidity and mortality. After obtaining my PhD degree, I continued working with registry data and stayed at Liverpool University for an academic visit. I advised researchers from the Netherlands and abroad on the use of registry data.

I am collaborating with researchers in various disciplines and completing studies with publications in  Cardiovascular, Neurology, Environmental health and Public Health domain. I am project leader of the Global Geo Health Data Center and involved in the Exposome hub of the UU. I am president of the Utrecht Health Project and I am coordinating SUrvey of Risk Factors (SURF-CHD), an international audit on secondary prevention in CHD patients that is supported by ESC.
