My research focusses on understanding the multidimensional needs of patients with incurable illness at home or in hospice, and their families and improvement proactive appropriate palliative care accordingly. From indepth exloration of needs and meaning, to the (dynamic)prediction of symptoms and concerns during the illness trajectory.

Patient, informal caregiver, healthcare professionals and student involvement is key in every project, from conception to dissemination.

Qualitative and quantitative methods necessary are necessary to ensure a deep understanding of the patient, their informal caregivers and healthcare professional experiences. Besides, providing evidence on the effectiveness of care improvement and implementation strategies necessary to bring change to practice, while dealing with the consequences of performing research studies in a vulnerable population, where dying is a sign of the right selection of participants.
